On September 29th, 2020, Skylar Joint Stock Company (Skylar) – a subsidiary of BCG Energy Joint Stock Company (BCG Energy) signed a contract to install solar rooftop energy with a total capacity of 8.3 MW on Kangda Board Vietnam Co. Ltd., (Kangda Board) and Sheng He Wood Vietnam Co. Ltd., (Sheng He Wood) at Linh Trung III Export Processing zone in Tay Ninh Province.

Accordingly, Skylar signed the contract to install rooftop solar energy with a total capacity of 6 MW on Kangda Board in a bond package of 19.5 MW of BCG Energy. The entire project in the 19.5 MW package is expected to COD by the end of 2020.

In addition, Skylar also secured the deal to install rooftop solar system with a total capacity of 2.3 MW with Sheng He.

Not long ago, on early September, Skylar signed the first contract in a bond package of 19.5 MW rooftop solar system installation with Dean Shoes Group in FreeTrend Industrial A at Linh Trung II Export Processing zone, Ho Chi Minh City.

The signing of the three aforementioned enterprises in Linh Trung Export Processing zone last September is considered one of the successes that BCG Energy achieved within the target of completing 500 MW of rooftop solar power for the period 2020-2024. BCG Energy has currently signed a number of rooftop solar projects with a total project’s portfolio of nearly 100 MW of capacity.

These contracts of BCG Energy also show great potential of rooftop solar development. According to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MoIT), rooftop solar energy is a clean, renewable power source which is decentralized into small-scale installations and consumed on-site. Therefore, rooftop solar can take the advantage of using the existing grid infrastructure, create little impact on land use. Moreover, the electricity generation process occurs during day time including peak hours, thus, rooftop solar system is beneficial to offload the power need and also to reduce emissions. With the support from MoIT, the mechanism for rooftop solar system installation, operation and commerce is becoming more convenient for the developers.

Besides Linh Trung Export Processing Zone, BCG Energy has deployed some other rooftop solar systems in industrial parks and export processing zones in the provinces of Long An, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc…
